WordPress Design and UX in 2018

Wow what a year, there’s been some amazing and inspiring websites to come onto my radar this year. So picking just a handful beautifully designed, intuitively UX’d WordPress sites to shout out is no easy task, but here goes.

My personal favourite site this year, proves that subject matter should not be any barrier to creativity. Unique layout, great copy, engaging interactions, and sweet illustrations. It’s easy to design for cool industries, but if you can make a fish market look this good then you’ve got serious game.

This high-impact site rightly scooped ‘best site award’ at Automattic design awards last month in Nashville. As jury members on the awards panel, we felt this site deserved the top accolade due to its bold visual impact, technical integration and depth of user experience.

I chose this site for Polaroid as I felt the clarity and vibrancy really captured the spirit of the brand. It follows an established retail narrative, but layers on additional micro-interactions and features to make it a very interesting but intuitive experience.

Lindy website

Obviously at least one of our sites is on the list. I’ve included our work for Lindy not just on its aesthetic value, but also it was a testament to a well-run project, a collaborative and communicative client relationship and also our first site to embrace Gutenberg this year.
