An overview of our Brighton GDPR Forum

Last week we hosted our first GDPR forum at the British Airways i360 in Brighton. With our venue on the beach, four Data Privacy experts, a ride on the i360 tower, and beautiful sunshine, we were ready for the afternoon ahead.

Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that attended, we loved getting to know you all! We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

We would also like to give a big shout out to our fabulous compère John Young, who did a smashing job at keeping the day running smoothly. And a huge thank you to James Pike, who took some amazing photographs from the day – you can see a few of these at the end of this post.

Here’s some of the lovely feedback our attendees gave us:

“It was excellent, as a Marketing Director who is worried about what is going to happen as there are a lot of scare stories going on, the myths, I’ve had those balloons popped and I’ve been reassured!.” – Oliver Hone, IMEX Group

“This was fantastic, speaking to someone face to face and having those questions answered was great!” – Ella Grant, Advice Clouds Public Sector Procurement

“I thought it was really useful, as I want to help businesses to grow and be as efficient as possible, so for me, I need to understand this – not just from a marketing perspective but from an operational and business development side.”
– Monica Miskelly, Adroit Professional Ltd

“If you don’t know enough about it, you need to know enough about it! Events like today are what will help you to do that.” – John Markey, William Reed Publishing Media

GDPR Forum, Brighton, September 2017

On the 25th May 2018, all businesses across Europe and the UK will face dramatic changes to Data Privacy Laws. We wanted to provide people with knowledge from our speakers that meant they left feeling more prepared for the new laws and able to turn the crisis into an opportunity!

Our agenda for the day
John Young (John Young Media): Compere
David Lockie (Angry Creative): GDPR: The role of a Digital Agency
Dan Hedley (Irwin Mitchell): A bit of Myth Busting
Gilbert Hill (Independent): From Threat to Business Opportunity in 30 Minutes
Ben Westwood (eBay): Reviewing Process, Procedure, and Reporting for GDPR

Due to the success of the event, and the huge potential for disruption if GDPR is not adhered to, we will be holding a second GDPR Forum in London. This will be held on the 24th November at the Whitechapel Gallery.
