As a Support Developer you love the challenge of finding and solving bugs, and communicating that success with clients. You’ll often have multiple priorities, so you’ll be able to organise your time and work with the Support Manager to tackle issues and keep clients singing your praises. You’ll be working with multiple code bases, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, often suggesting ways to optimise and improve.

What you'll be doing

  • Planning solutions to technical issues
  • Working on multiple WordPress based websites
  • Communicating with clients to understand issues and suggest solutions in non-jargon
  • Producing high quality, conscientious code
  • Building and implementing new features and functionality
  • Feeding back on technical issues and optimisation opportunities to team
  • Working alongside designers to support implementing technical solutions
  • Staying up-to-date with technical standards and sharing knowledge with wider team via training, mentoring and presentations
  • Following git, version control and deployment processes or other version control systems
  • Attending events on behalf of Pragmatic, such as WordCamps and conferences

About you - skills and experience

  • At least 3 years experience developing and delivering front end and back end WordPress websites of small to large scale
  • Migration - Database / Content / Systems
  • Proficient in understanding of PHP back end development, front end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Familiarity with projects in the WordPress ecosystem: for example WooCommerce, BuddyPress, Multisite
  • Experience designing and developing responsive websites
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, naturally inquisitive and someone that enjoys finding solutions
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage own time
  • Someone that actively seeks out support from wider team to help improve their skills.
  • Experience of working with hosting environments
